Easter is just around the corner. Pop into the Red Cross shop in Whangarei to see all the bargains for the holidays. Whether it’s something for yourself or for someone else, we have lots to choose from. We will be closed Good Friday and Easter Sunday and Monday, but we will be open Wednesday, Thursday and Saturday this week. Wednesday and Thursday we will be open 9am to 5pm and Saturday from 9am to 4pm.

Many New Zealand gardens aren’t seeing as many monarch butterflies fluttering around their swan plants and flower beds these days — the hungry Asian paper wasp has been taking its toll.
Thanks to people like Alan Baldick, who’s made it his mission to protect the monarch, his neighbours still get to enjoy these beautiful butterflies in their own backyards.
