Weather warning for Westland & Buller

Severe weather is expected today for Westland and Buller only easing around 7pm this evening.

What you need to know:
- Scattered thunderstorms are expected to affect Westland between 10am and 5pm today (Tuesday).
- Scattered thunderstorms are expected to affect Buller between midday and 7pm today (Tuesday).
- These thunderstorms are producing localised heavy rain, small hail and squally winds.
- It is possible some of the thunderstorms may be severe producing a few small tornadoes, mainly near the coast.

If any tornadoes do occur, they are expected to be small and localised, but could cause damage to buildings and vegetation.
