Te Ahumairangi
PLEASE RE-LEASE ME, LET ME GO...
Last Sunday we made good progress on pulling up the swathe of sycamore-lings under
and around the main catchment gully. The Matai, Kohekohe, Totara, Hedycarya and Fuchsia trees are growing well. The soil hasn't dried out so much this year (thanks to an indifferent summer and despite the fierce winds).
This coming Sunday morning I want to tackle the light Spring weed growth around our planting above Karl Tischler's property. Don't forget to bring your rubberised gloves if you have some (the leather spares I have are too clumsy for this finger-work).
If we have sufficient numbers there are some light wells that need opening above Matai planted among the Mahoe canopy.
See you just before 9:30am at 155 Cecil Road, Wilton. The forecast is for fine sunny weather, so hopefully we can take refreshments outside on the back deck under the umbrella afterwards.

Poll: Are Kiwis allergic to “exuberance”? 🥝
In The Post’s opinion piece on the developments set to open across Aotearoa in 2026, John Coop suggests that, as a nation, we’re “allergic to exuberance.”
We want to know: Are we really allergic to showing our excitement?
Is it time to lean into a more optimistic view of the place we call home? As big projects take shape and new opportunities emerge, perhaps it’s worth asking whether a little more confidence (and enthusiasm!) could do us some good.
