Gym buddy wanted for mutual exercise motivation at CityFitness Thorndon!
I am looking for a gym buddy for mutual exercise motivation at CityFitness Thorndon!

Even before corona closed in, I was in dire need of regular exercise. Now that we’re emerging from lockdown, I’m especially keen to get into it. I really enjoy the gym environment once I am there, but my problem is the motivation to get up in the morning and go. I’ve discovered that I am extrinsically motivated, in that I am much more likely to exercise regularly if I am accountable to someone else to turn up on time. Likewise, if you have similar motivation issues, I would be there to encourage you to turn up and do your own workout at our agreed times.
I’m hoping to meet up two or preferably three weekday mornings a week, and finish working out by about 8am so that I can start work by 8:30am.
I live in Thorndon (five minutes’ walk from City Fitness) and work for the Department of Internal Affairs on Pipitea Street (but at home for now).
I would look to do machine weight workouts and cardio, perhaps with the occasional group fitness class. But you could do your own workout – I don’t need a ‘spotter’, just someone to motivate me to get to the gym.
I am 39 years old, and not bothered about your age or gender. Happy to meet up and discuss further if you are interested.
Cheers,
Tim Hickey

Some Choice News!
Many New Zealand gardens aren’t seeing as many monarch butterflies fluttering around their swan plants and flower beds these days — the hungry Asian paper wasp has been taking its toll.
Thanks to people like Alan Baldick, who’s made it his mission to protect the monarch, his neighbours still get to enjoy these beautiful butterflies in their own backyards.
Thinking about planting something to invite more butterflies, bees, and birds into your garden?
Thanks for your mahi, Alan! We hope this brings a smile!
