Shiny roof a problem for Ngaio woman
Shutting curtains, buying blinds and wearing sunglasses indoors are the only way a Wellington woman can hide from her neighbour’s “shiny” roof.
Luanne Cockburn has lived at her Ngaio home for eight years and says her neighbours Zincalume roof – steel coated with zinc and aluminium alloy – is causing glare and giving her migraines.
The owners of the house, Lucy and Matt Baker-Davies, said they first heard from Cockburn about the colour of their cladding last year.
“We were invited to come to their home to view and discuss this, however due to the aggressive tone taken by our neighbours, we declined,” Baker-Davies said.
A Wellington City Council spokesman said the dwelling was granted resource consent and building consent, and complied with these consents.
The roofing material was not in itself highly reflective, he said.

Any recommendations for a good gardener?
Hi Lovely neighbours,
Just wondering if anyone has a good gardener they would recommend? Lawn moving only at this stage.
Thanks
Yvonne
Stamps wanted
I run a Stamp club at Tawa School to encourage children to collect stamps and learn about countries, history and more. Unfortunately new stamps aren't often seen these days as it's all electronic! If you have any stamps or old collections sitting around, let me know and I'll come and get them.
