Cemeteries Management Plan Review

Wellington City Council

As part of our Cemeteries Management Plan Review for Mākara, Karori and Tawa cemeteries, we’re looking at how grave sites should be maintained. Many people like to place tributes on the graves of their loved ones, but the decorations can blow away, creating rubbish and causing pollution.

We'd like to do a quick poll: should plastic decorations be banned from the city’s cemeteries? Let us know what you think here: www.letstalk.wellington.govt.nz...

To share your suggestions about how best to manage graveside tributes and for more information, visit: www.letstalk.wellington.govt.nz...

Feedback closes at 5pm Friday 31 July 2020. Your feedback will help us to prepare a draft plan, which will go out for formal consultation later this year.

Some Choice News!

Kia pai from Sharing the Good Stuff

Many New Zealand gardens aren’t seeing as many monarch butterflies fluttering around their swan plants and flower beds these days — the hungry Asian paper wasp has been taking its toll.

Thanks to people like Alan Baldick, who’s made it his mission to protect the monarch, his neighbours still get to enjoy these beautiful butterflies in their own backyards.

Thinking about planting something to invite more butterflies, bees, and birds into your garden?

Thanks for your mahi, Alan! We hope this brings a smile!

FREE 10-liter emergency water bottles

Michael from Newtown

Merry Christmas -

I have around twenty, empty 10-liter distilled water bottles to serve as emergency water storage. I saved them for my friends, but they already have their own water supplies. Take as many as you like. Please respond to this notice if you are interested.

Best wishes - Michael
