Hope School Country Fair at Alert Level 2

Sarah Whittle from Hope School Country Fair

Hi folks, Hope School Country Fair is ON!

Saturday 25 September
11am - 2pm (three x 1 hour sessions)
Hope School, 316 Paton Road, Hope
Rain or shine / Alert Level 2 or 1 :-)

At Alert Level 2 we are restricted to 100 visitors on site, so we are offering free tickets via Eventbrite for timed sessions at 11, 12 and 1 o'clock. You must have a ticket to enter, so that we can keep track of numbers. There is a link below to order your tickets.

There will be viewing of our Silent Auction (note all auctions will be run on Trade Me #hopeschool, closing on the evening of Saturday 25th), plant sale, baking, produce, preserves, sausage sizzle, takeaway cafe, firewood raffle and some socially distanced entertainment. Please come along and support our little school. We're raising money for STEAMS resources.

If you aren't able to come along but would still like to support the school, we have a givealittle page where you can make a donation. All details will be on our Facebook page, including links to the raffles and Silent Auction, which will all have an online option. Thanks for your support!

Poll: Are Kiwis allergic to “exuberance”? 🥝

The Team from Neighbourly.co.nz

In The Post’s opinion piece on the developments set to open across Aotearoa in 2026, John Coop suggests that, as a nation, we’re “allergic to exuberance.”

We want to know: Are we really allergic to showing our excitement?

Is it time to lean into a more optimistic view of the place we call home? As big projects take shape and new opportunities emerge, perhaps it’s worth asking whether a little more confidence (and enthusiasm!) could do us some good.

Some Choice News!

Kia pai from Sharing the Good Stuff

Many New Zealand gardens aren’t seeing as many monarch butterflies fluttering around their swan plants and flower beds these days — the hungry Asian paper wasp has been taking its toll.

Thanks to people like Alan Baldick, who’s made it his mission to protect the monarch, his neighbours still get to enjoy these beautiful butterflies in their own backyards.

Thinking about planting something to invite more butterflies, bees, and birds into your garden?

Thanks for your mahi, Alan! We hope this brings a smile!
