Rangiora gymnasts celebrate impressive year
The Rangiora Gymnastics Club is springing into the New Year with confidence after an impressive 2018.
The club's competitive team ended the season with a number of medals and trophies, as well as producing four Canterbury reps and one national rep.
The senior squad of Ella Van Meer, Hannah Drury, Amber Brownlee and Eva Hyde were all chosen to represent Canterbury, while Hyde was also chosen to represent New Zealand.
Club coach Geo Varelas was also chosen to join the Canterbury coaching team.
Club president Stef Van Meer said as well as competitive gymnastic classes, the club offered recreational gymnastics for boys and girls from pre-school to teenager.
"We also have cheerleading, rythmic gymnastics, boys only and adults gymnastics on our timetable.
"Research shows that gymnastics is one of the most comprehensive lifestyle exercise programs available to children, incorporating strength, flexibility, speed, balance, coordination, power, and discipline.
"The skills learned in gymnastics at all levels can benefit a child's overall development."
The club meets at 24 Edwards St, Rangiora. For more information about what the club offers or to make a booking, visit rangioragymnasticsclub.co.nz or check out the Rangiora Gymnastics Club Facebook page to find out more.
