If you’re one of the many home users still running Windows 10, you’ve probably seen the headlines about Microsoft ending support in October 2025. It might sound serious — but before you panic, take a deep breath.

Your computer isn’t going to stop working.

At Compserve, we’ve helped Kapiti residents through every Windows transition since the days of Windows XP. Here’s what the end of Windows 10 support really means, what protection you’ll still have, and how you can stay secure and supported.

🛑 What Does “End of Support” Actually Mean?

Microsoft will officially end mainstream security updates for Windows 10 in October 2025.

That means they’ll stop releasing new security patches and feature updates — but your existing system will keep working exactly as it does today.

You’ll still be able to:
✅ Start up and use your computer normally
✅ Browse the internet, watch videos, and check emails
✅ Print, scan, and use your existing apps and files

So, nothing will suddenly break or stop working when the deadline arrives.
