Partly remembered poem

Ivor from Waikanae

I am trying to trace the origins of a poem I first heard in England in the 1950s. The first verse goes like this:-
"Life can't be all plain sailing,
The sky can't always be blue,
The whole world can't be upholstered
To keep the knocks from you."
Can anyone remember reading or hearing the rest of it or who wrote it?
