Demon Product of the Week
Has anyone found an alternative use for plastic bread tags? They end up collecting in my peg bowl on the windowsill, but never get reused as the alternatives are much better. There are probably millions of these going to landfill every week. Enough to cover a football field or two. These tags are totally unnecessary. Date and batch numbers can be printed on the bags and compostable paper ties used instead.Being light and portable, like plastic shopping bags, they are also an item most likely to end up in the ocean. As bite sized pieces, which float, and bob along nicely, they then become fodder for fish. Also, while bread manufacturers are reviewing their packaging options, what about making the bread bags home compostable? Corn starch bags for bread would be fine and these can actually be reused once or twice before making it to the compost heap. Lets all suggest to the supermarkets that they get rid of plastic bread tags and display bread in compostable bags.
