The plant grows as a clump of long, straplike leaves, up to three metres long, from which arises a much taller flowering shoot, with dramatic yellow or red flowers.
The fibre has been widely used since the arrival of Maori to New Zealand, originally in Maori traditional textiles/weaving and also in rope and sail making.
Common from lowland and coastal areas to montane forest, usually but not exclusively, in wetlands and in open ground along riversides.
These Harekeke seedlings are over 20 cm tall and are being sold in lots of 10 in 5cm pots for $15.00 and we have plenty of stock.
We also have Phormium Cookianum -Mountain Flax for 10 for $15.
FAIRVIEW is a small Kapiti based nursery with stocks of various locally sourced native trees, flaxes and grasses.

"I was transferred from Porirua Animal Control. I am a special dude who has had an unusual start to my rehoming journey. I am completely deaf but that doesn't stop me having a great time! I am a loveable boy who has stolen the hearts of everyone at the centre. I am looking for an experienced owner, who has a suitable property for me to thrive in. I'm always up for a walk or a game to play, and I love to find things to do and keep active. I am looking for a home with teenagers or adults, and a home without cats or small animals. I am happy to play with other active dogs, and love to be social with both people and dogs. If you are interested in me and my goofy personality - chat to the canine team."

Does anyone have one of these trailer wheels they would like to sell. The trailer is ancient, circa 1946 but still solid. Looking for a friend, who can't find a replacement anywhere.

Last Saturday morning, the Tate family went to wake up their eldest son, Jacob, but he could not be roused and was unresponsive. The family called emergency services and attempted to resuscitate him, but it was too late.
Speaking on behalf of Jacob’s parents, Rachel and Andy Tate, close friend Abby Woollaston said Jacob was a sensitive, caring and funny boy.
“He went against the flow and stood out in a crowd,” Woollaston said.
