Poll: What would bring you back to the city centre?

The Team from Neighbourly.co.nz

Our CBDs have been making headlines lately – they’re not quite the bustling hearts of our cities they once were, with more people flocking to malls instead. The big question is, what do you think should be the focus of a revitalised city centre?

Thank you for your patience while our preliminary results were processed today. It took more time than anticipated, as we had almost double what we received in the last few days of the previous election!

Thank you to all of you who voted. We don’t mind waiting if it means more of you participated in local democracy.

Preliminary results, reflect about 95% of votes returned but do not include special votes. These give us a good indication of what our Council, Community Boards and the Māori Ward referendum might look like. But it is important to note, final results are not expected until Friday 17 October.

👉Preliminary results provisionally indicate the Kapiti Coast Māori Ward will remain in place for the 2028 and 2031 local elections.

👉Preliminary results show Janet Holborow re-elected as Mayor for the 2025–2028 triennium.

👉There are a couple of changes from yesterday’s progress results. These are for the Kapiti Coast Māori Ward and the Waikanae Community Board.

Full preliminary results for Council, community board seats, and the Māori ward are now available - www.kapiticoast.govt.nz...

Heirloom Tomatoes, Zucchini and Broadbean Plants at Waikanae Market tomorrow.

Val from Otaki District

It may be wet and windy, but the soil is warming up nicely. Still too early to be planting tomatoes outdoors but we have some nice early varieties suitable for starting out in a greenhouse or veggie pod.

It may be wet and windy, but the soil is warming up nicely. Still too early to be planting tomatoes outdoors but we have some nice early varieties suitable for starting out in a greenhouse or veggie pod.
We still have some 'Kimber' Zucchini, which are self-fertile and will set fruit even if the bees are not around to pollinate. Also a selection from our regular Zucchini varieties - 13 in total this year including some interesting new varieties.
Planning to be at the market in spite of the forecast but heavy wind may be a problem.
