Introduction to Story Massage with Clare Gibbons
Do you have a loved one who has dementia? Then this is especially for you.
Is there a child in your life who is too lively at times? Then this is especially for you?
Story Massage is a fun, wonderfully simple, interactive way of combining the creativity of storytelling with the benefits of massage. Story Massage can be used with children and adults, whatever their age or ability.
The massage strokes are gentle and non-intrusive and are received through clothing. The strokes can be adapted to the meet the needs of the participants.
Some benefits experienced from Story Massage, are calmness and concentration, along with increased self-awareness, self-confidence and self-esteem.
Each workshop will begin with a PowerPoint presentation explaining how Story Massage works. Visual displays will also introduce you to the strokes used as well as depicting a variety of individuals and groups who have benefitted from and enjoy Story Massage. Interactive work will follow, where you will have the opportunity to create your own stories, practice the strokes and to share with others. This will give you a basic knowledge to enable you to use Story Massage with family and friends.

Some Choice News!
Many New Zealand gardens aren’t seeing as many monarch butterflies fluttering around their swan plants and flower beds these days — the hungry Asian paper wasp has been taking its toll.
Thanks to people like Alan Baldick, who’s made it his mission to protect the monarch, his neighbours still get to enjoy these beautiful butterflies in their own backyards.
Thinking about planting something to invite more butterflies, bees, and birds into your garden?
Thanks for your mahi, Alan! We hope this brings a smile!
