Diwali Festival in Otorohanga a Great Success
Hundreds of people crowded on to the Otorohanga Village Green Saturday afternoon from 4pm to celebrate the initial Otorohanga Diwali Festival.
Popular stalls included Castle91 Restaurant serving authentic Indian cuisine and there were queues at the henna hand tattoo and the Diwali themed face painting stalls. Across the Green was a stall where youngsters were colouring Indian designs, while on stage dancers performed in colourful costumes and from time to time we were entertained to Indian rap and ballads. One interesting rap was the "lament" about the trials and tribulations of driving on the Auckland motorway.
Such was the obvious success of this event it's a given that we will see and even bigger Diwali Festival in 2017.
