Lions Book Fair next Friday, Saturday & Sunday. Thanks for the tremendous response to our appeal for books. All collection points are now closed. We have books and jigsaws of exceptional quality and quantity this year. We cover fiction, non-fiction, children’s, teenagers as well as hundreds and hundreds of jigsaws. Also rare and collectable books.
See you next weekend. Tables will be replenished as they clear, so there will be fresh selections during the weekend.

The Environmental Protection Authority announced this week that a proposed mine in Central Otago (near Cromwell) is about to enter its fast-track assessment process. A final decision could come within six months, and if it’s approved, construction might start as early as mid-2026.
We want to know: Should mining projects like this move ahead?
