Kerbside waste collections

Communications from Tauranga City Council

We will be introducing kerbside waste collections for all households from 1 July 2021.

That means you will be provided with new rubbish, recycling and food scraps bins to use alongside your current glass crate.

The service will cost $230 for the first year, and will be added to residential rates from 1 July 2021. You can also choose to have an additional garden waste collection for an extra $60 for the first year.

The new collections will make reducing waste easier, more accessible and more affordable for our whole community.

We know you'll have lots of questions, so head to our website for more info: www.tauranga.govt.nz...

Proposed change to rubbish collection

Elly from Welcome Bay

Hi Everyone, while I was talking to the Council this morning on the flood zoning situation, I mentioned the proposed rubbish collection next year and the use of wheelie bins. Given Mike is disabled and I am semi-disabled and we have a very steep driveway, these bins would have been impossible for us. I received a communication this afternoon from the department in charge of rubbish collection who advise that there will be an assisted service form which will be available to fill in for those people like ourselves, to request this service. It means from my understanding the collectors will take your bins to the roadside, empty them and return them. I have asked Council to please post a message on Neighbourly when this form is available so everyone who is impacted can react.

Favourite summer holiday spots

Lorna Thornber Reporter from Stuff Travel

Hi everyone,
We'd be keen to hear about your favourite summer holiday spots in NZ. Is there somewhere you keep returning to year after year and, if so, what are the main attractions? What makes it such a stand-out spot? Any tips you may be able to offer on the best things to see and do there - as well as the best places to grab a drink or bite to eat - would be much appreciated. Please put 'NFP' (not for publication) in your comment if you don't want it to appear in a travel article. Thanks again.
