Hey neighbours,

All New Zealand police officers will receive new stab- and bullet-proof vests in a $20 million roll-out over the next three-and-a-half years.

The current vests - which were introduced in 2006 - are stab-proof, but special vests are worn by any officers involved in firearms call-outs.

They have passed their warranty, but remain "safe and fit for purpose", says Police Commissioner Mike Bush.

What do you think about the new armour? Are police officers safe using the current vests? Are you surprised the existing vests aren't stab- and bullet-proof?

He lived in Tauranga for a long time (and spoke at my second TEDxTauranga events in 2014). Ian has recently moved to the Netherlands which is famous for it’s commuter cycling. I found what he had to say about the environment and cycling fascinating.

FYI yesterday I took 7 hours to refurbish 2 showers at Papamoa where glass clarity was lost due to water staining.
The Owner was very concerned about the state of the shower and had tried 2 DIY products only to virtually wreck her wrist, yes, wreck her wrist, swelling is still present after 10 months!

This DIY product is currently being marketed on TV and even their internet site shows a very misleading youtube clip. The clip shows the host manually rubbing off severely water stained glass, this is not possible, it would take me at least 2 to 3 hours to machine buff it off and then follow 7 other process steps to bring the glass back to new and then ClearShield protect it.

This DIY product could only be used on new showers and would have to be done every month to remove water staining. It does not seal the pores of the glass and it does not protect the glass from future corrosion/lost clarity, if any-think, it may damage/etch the glass.

The only way to protect your glass is to request ClearShield glass protection, a global leader for 38 years, so tried and proven.

Two bird bells for $5 - Shipping available for additional cost

These wonderful homemade bird bells are perfect for your feathered friends, pets and wild alike! Made from all natural ingredients, you can be sure that they are safe for your bird and the environment.

Many pet birds become bored and need stimulation throughout the day. Foraging for food provides them with a release for this boredom and keeps their brain and beak active. Your bird will have so much fun picking out all of the seeds from the bird bell and will satisfy their foraging instincts.

Once your bird has eaten all of the seeds from the bird bell, simply throw your empty bell in the fire or compost and get the full use out of your bird bell!

Two bird bells for $5 (shipping additional cost), your feathered friends will love you for this healthy addition to their diet!

My baby girl Tweetey not included :)
