New Zealand Police are aware of reports emerging this month where Kiwis have been contacted on the phone by someone claiming to be an officer. The officer will claim to be from a particular department, tell you that you have been a victim of fraud or scam, and begin to try and obtain further financial information from you. This is a scam.
Detective Senior Sergeant Craig Bolton, from Auckland City’s Financial Crime Unit, says there have been at least a dozen reports made to Police, and these scam calls are largely being made to landlines. “While Police do not have accurate numbers of how many of these scam calls have been received, it is important that the public are aware,” he says. “Police will make some enquiries into these calls, but our experience has shown that often phone-based scammers will be operating from overseas. “We appreciate the vigilance of those who have contact Police so far, as this will help us to make others in the community aware.”
Unfortunately, scams can take many different forms and target victims on different platforms, Detective Senior Sergeant Bolton says. “Scammers are opportunistic and thrive off your trust and good-will. If you receive a call of this nature, do not hand over any personal details.”
New Zealand Police will never contact people seeking their banking details, card numbers, pin numbers or passwords. There are instances where legitimate Police officers will contact you as part of their duties. Police ask that the public remain vigilant.
𝗥𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗺𝗯𝗲𝗿:
➡️Police will never ask for details about your bank cards, pin numbers or passwords over the phone.
➡️Trust your instincts. If something doesn't feel right, or is too good to be true, it probably is.
➡️If you are uncertain, ask for the officer’s details. Hang up, contact 105 and request the officer to contact you.
➡️Police aren’t in the business of offering prize money.
If you are in the unfortunate position of being a victim of a scam, please report the matter to Police.

We continue to advise people to be extremely cautious when receiving unsolicited emails. Do not reply an the email of this nature under any circumstances.

It's like a germ party with bacteria like staphylococci, streptococci, and other nasties hanging out there. Yikes!
To keep it clean, try disinfecting it at least once a week. If it's a shared keyboard, maybe bump up the cleaning frequency a bit. Grab some wipes with 70% alcohol and give it a good wipe-down. And hey, don't go thinking higher alcohol percentages are better – they just evaporate too fast to do the job properly.
2. **TV Remote:** Be honest now, when was the last time you cleaned your TV remote? 📺
With everyone in the family pawing at it daily, it's a breeding ground for germs. Grab some alcohol wipes or a damp microfibre cloth with alcohol and give it a quick wipe every day. Your remote – and your peace of mind – will thank you!
3. **Bathroom Tap:** Okay, brace yourself for this one. The bathroom tap – you know, the one you touch right after doing your business – is a germ magnet. 😬
It's like a party spot for bacteria like e. coli and other not-so-pleasant types. Studies even show that homes with kids and pets tend to be germier! So, maybe give that tap an extra scrub when you're cleaning the bathroom.
Stay clean, stay healthy, and remember to give those sneaky germ hideouts a good scrub every now and then!

Aspire is the 2-storey gym (behind the Z Bethlehem petrol station) that has an onsite 4- lane lap pool and sauna! They run aqua aerobic classes, land based aerobic classes, PT sessions, there are running machines, exercycles, stair climber machines, rowing machines - an extensive weghts facility. Such an awesome gym!!
The normal weekly rate is $32, so you would be receiving a discounted membership ($30) that offers you full use of the gym facilities. My membership expires Jan 2025. A joining fee is charged when signing up with Aspire Gym, however this is not applicable if you take over a current members contract. Once the papers are signed over, the gym will simply charge you the $30 p/wk - no strings attached. And, if for some reason you can't attend for a period of time, they offer unlimited membership holds for up to 3 months at a time. It really is very flexible and accommodating.

The prize was presented by Prime Minister Christopher Luxon at a ceremony at Logan Campbell Village in Auckland today, celebrating the major contribution Professor Hachinski has made to the diagnosis, treatment, prevention, and the links between ‘the terrible three’ - stroke, dementia and coronary heart disease.
