IRONMAN New Zealand is nearly here!
Another epic IRONMAN event is set to hit our district on Saturday, and we can’t wait! Originally scheduled for earlier this month, a change in Covid-19 Alert Levels prompted organisers to postpone the event until this weekend.
The Nutri-Grain IRONMAN incorporates a 3.8km swim, a 180km bike ride and a 42.2km run, and will kick off at dawn on the Taupō lakefront on Saturday, March 27.
Hundreds of local volunteers will be helping out on the day and thousands of supporters and spectators will be flooding into our district to enjoy the event. We are excited!
Please note, there will be road closures on the day of IRONMAN – find out more at taupo.govt.nz/roadclosures.

Some Choice News!
Many New Zealand gardens aren’t seeing as many monarch butterflies fluttering around their swan plants and flower beds these days — the hungry Asian paper wasp has been taking its toll.
Thanks to people like Alan Baldick, who’s made it his mission to protect the monarch, his neighbours still get to enjoy these beautiful butterflies in their own backyards.
Thinking about planting something to invite more butterflies, bees, and birds into your garden?
Thanks for your mahi, Alan! We hope this brings a smile!
