Suzhou delegates visit ahead of world-class exhibition at Taupo Museum
Delegates from one of Taupo's sister cities, Suzhou, visited last week to help with preparations for the upcoming world-class exhibition Suzhou – Faith and Life.
The exhibition, which opens at Taupo Museum on August 31, features treasures from the Tang and Song Dynasties dating back to 618AD. It is the first time an exhibition of this age and significance has been hosted by Taupo Museum.
Delegates Mr Liu Ming and Ms Yao Yao from Suzhou Museum were here to check on the exhibition area. Due to the age and significance of the artefacts, humidity control and security measures are vitally important.
Library and museum manager Luisa Haines, said Mr Ming and Ms Yao were very happy with the arrangements in place. "The Suzhou Museum is one of the great international museums, and we are fortunate to have this unprecedented opportunity to share these ancient artefacts with our district. We are expecting visitors from all over New Zealand."

Some Choice News!
Many New Zealand gardens aren’t seeing as many monarch butterflies fluttering around their swan plants and flower beds these days — the hungry Asian paper wasp has been taking its toll.
Thanks to people like Alan Baldick, who’s made it his mission to protect the monarch, his neighbours still get to enjoy these beautiful butterflies in their own backyards.
Thinking about planting something to invite more butterflies, bees, and birds into your garden?
Thanks for your mahi, Alan! We hope this brings a smile!
