Our Garden of Earthly Delightscelebrates small parts of our amazing country, Aotearoa, New Zealand and the connection we have with it. The more often we see things around us, even the beautiful and stunning things, the more they become invisible to us. Consequently, we often take for granted the beauty of this world, the ocean, the trees, the birds, and the clouds - even those we love. Because we see things so often, we see them less and less.

Many New Zealand gardens aren’t seeing as many monarch butterflies fluttering around their swan plants and flower beds these days — the hungry Asian paper wasp has been taking its toll.

Thanks to people like Alan Baldick, who’s made it his mission to protect the monarch, his neighbours still get to enjoy these beautiful butterflies in their own backyards.
