Hipapatua Reserve to close for maintenance
The main camping area at Hipapatua Reserve/Reid's Farm will be closed from 8am on Monday, May 14 to allow the Taupo District Council Parks Team to carry out maintenance and development work.
The work is to ensure that the site will be in good shape for the coming summer season and will include minor drainage work, earthworks, re-grassing, planting and pruning, and work on access tracks.
Signage will direct campers to the smaller, upper camping area, which will remain open. Day use of the lower reserve, as well as river access, will not be affected by the works. The main camping area will reopen once the grassed areas have had time to re-establish.
Some Choice News!
Many New Zealand gardens aren’t seeing as many monarch butterflies fluttering around their swan plants and flower beds these days — the hungry Asian paper wasp has been taking its toll.
Thanks to people like Alan Baldick, who’s made it his mission to protect the monarch, his neighbours still get to enjoy these beautiful butterflies in their own backyards.
Thinking about planting something to invite more butterflies, bees, and birds into your garden?
Thanks for your mahi, Alan! We hope this brings a smile!
