As the school and tertiary holidays approach, many Kiwis will be travelling out of their towns and cities to Aotearoa tourist hotspots.

One such popular destination on a tiki tour is Lake Taupo: with renewable energy potential in geothermal reservoirs, a rich cultural history and good trout fishing, New Zealand's largest lake has a great deal of tricks up its sleeve.

Roadworks on SH1 between Hampton Downs and Rangiriri

From 7 to 18 December, there will be night-time closures on SH1 between Hampton Downs and Rangiriri (Sundays to Thursdays, 9pm to 5am) to carry out wire rope barrier maintenance. Please expect delays when travelling through this area. Find out more
