45 before 45 - ideas please!

Reporter Northern Outlook

I had a birthday this week, and being the mad planner that I am, I'm creating a list of things to do before my next birthday - which will be my 45th.
So, I'm after ideas for things to put on my list of 45 things to achieve by the time I'm 45.

I had a birthday this week, and being the mad planner that I am, I'm creating a list of things to do before my next birthday - which will be my 45th.
So, I'm after ideas for things to put on my list of 45 things to achieve by the time I'm 45.
A couple of qualifiers: I'm not into adrenaline, so no jumping out of planes or off bridges. And they need to be things that I can do, and things that any normal person with normal resources would be able to achieve - no flying rockets into outer space or anything.
So far I've got:
1. Play a round of golf
2. Compete in a sport
3. Smash NaNoWriMo (National Novel Writing Month)
4. Read 'The Bone People' (again)
I'll be setting up a blog and tracking progress online and in print, so come at me with your best ideas - even something that you set out to accomplish and achieved and gave you a real sense of achievement. Would love to hear your stories as well!
Shannon (Ed).

Want to learn about predators and trapping? Would you be willing to put a trap in your backyard to protect native wildlife (or maybe let someone check the trap for you)? Perhaps you have a few hours to spare each week to check traps in your area.

This workshop aims to increase trapping to protect the amazing bird life in the Ashley estuary and wetlands just north of Christchurch… But it’s not just about the Ashley! If you live anywhere in New Zealand and are interested in finding out more about predators and trapping in your area, come along to this FREE workshop, followed by afternoon tea (we’ll even have chocolate biscuits!) Experienced trappers are coming to swap tips and tricks, so here's your chance to learn more about how we can make New Zealand predator free by 2050.

Car snoopers!

On Monday morning all the compartments in my car were open, although nothing was stolen because I had nothing in there to steal, luckily! I don't think I locked my car that night, which was silly on my behalf. My husbands car was parked beside mine and was locked and his car was fine. So just a warning to lock your car up each night, and don't keep valuables in your car overnight. Always scummy opportunists lurking around ☹️
