Crews yet to extinguish rural Canterbury scrub fires
Fire crews are back working to extinguish two North Canterbury scrub fires that have been burning for most of the week.
Two fires burning near the Ashley River bank in Loburn were brought under control on Thursday, but were still burning underground.
The first blaze – in Loburn was off Dunlops Rd by the Ashley River – had been burning since 3.30pm on Sunday and flared up again on Monday night, forcing crews to pull back. The blaze burned through 93 hectares of scrub.
