The cinema buff said he had had an interest in movies and the pictures since the age of 14.
"I am the youngest cinema owner in New Zealand.
"I bought the Regent Cinema in Rangiora when I was 21."
At Rangiora High School he resurrected the school's projector and charged students .20c to watch movies during lunch breaks.
"It would pay for my lunch," he said.
