Looking for an adventure?

Social Media Manager from Tuia 250 ki Tōtaranui

This is not for the faint-hearted!

We are looking for a guy and a girl, 19 years and over, who want to join the Tuia 250 flotilla.

There is a place for a man on the Waka Ngahiraka Mai Tawhiti and a place for a woman on the HMB Endeavour.

The voyage departs from Mangonui on November 12 and sails for 11 days until it reaches Meretoto/Ship Cove where you will be part of the welcome to the region at the Pōwhiri on November 21. The next day will see you sail through Tōtaranui/Queen Charlotte Sound arriving to an enormous community welcome at Waitohi/Picton foreshore on November 22.

This is a once in a lifetime opportunity to take part in this historic event. You will be an ambassador for Tuia 250 and be part of the exciting activities happening in Marlborough commemorating 250 years since the first encounters between Māori and Pakeha.

Your duties may include cooking, cleaning, maintenance duties, rigging activities and watcher duties. You will also enjoy morning swims, tramps, wānanga, discussions, learn waiata, and participate in community engagement activities.

The Tuia 250 voyage will visit fifteen communities with a flotilla of dual heritage vessels including waka hourua, va’a moana (from Tahiti), and heritage tall ships to promote the exceptional feats of Pacific, Māori and European voyaging that brought us together.

Specific terms and conditions apply. Travel to departure point is not included. The successful applicants must be aged 19-years and over. Applications close 23 July.

For more information and to apply go to www.totaranui250.co.nz...

Poll: Would you use a Picton-Blenheim Saturday bus?

Jennifer Eder Reporter from Marlborough Express

The Marlborough District Council plans to trial a Saturday bus between Picton and Blenheim, in response to feedback from Picton residents wanting to visit the new Blenheim library. It would leave Waikawa Bay at 9am and 1pm, and Blenheim's Seymour St at 10.10am and 2pm.
