Don't forget about your pets!
Did you know that the SPCA is a civil defence emergency management ‘neighbour’? They do a fantastic job all the time, and together with the Ministry for Primary Industries, they support us with animal welfare in an emergency.
It’s worth remembering your pets when you’re thinking about emergency preparation and including them in your household plan. Keep a copy of vaccination certificates in your grab bag; have a cage or a dog lead and a little food. Take your pets with you if you need to evacuate and think about how you’d take care of them.
