Something I love about Glenholme...

Luzaan from Glenholme

We don't know any other place in New Zealand, you see, we immigrated from South Africa 6years ago with our 3 children, we immediately jumped into jobs, my husband into his job as leading hand diesel technician and me as a makeup artist, social media marketing assistant, virtual personal assistant and a business owner, but I truly can't ever see us living anywhere but in Glenholme Rotorua.

What we love is the small things, the smile from an unknown person walking by, my beautiful neighbour checking in when I need it most, the hospital staff who always has a smile when my 5year old gets admitted, walking around without fear, without the need to constantly look over your shoulder or cross the road to make sure the person behind you aren't following you. Waking up in the morning with no gates infront of our doors, no gates covering our windows, no high walls obscuring the sunrise and sun set.

What I love is the fact that our local corner shop owner knows me by name, that our local coffee shop gives my 5year old her choc banana coffee (decaf) and calling it coffee so she doesn't feel left out when mum needs a coffee fix.

What I love is the fact that our kids can go to the park and we don't have to worry about a drive by shooting, a kidnapping, a highjacking.

What we love might be small to everyone in New Zealand but it's MASSIVE to us.

Share your New Zealand music memories...

The Team from Neighbourly.co.nz

It's NZ Music Month and New Zealand really has some beautiful songs from artists that we call our own.

Whether it's April Sun in Cuba, Don't Forget your Roots, or How Bizarre or Bic Runga's 'Sway' - songs have a way of unlocking memories and evoking old feelings.

In honour of NZ Music Month, share a New Zealand song or artist that is special to you and explain why.

Type 'Not For Print' if you wish your comments to be excluded from the Conversations column of your local paper.
