The Trustpower solar buddy initiative is something that Trustpower has set up for people with solar panels installed to allow them sell their generated power to other Trustpower customers at an agreed rate. We can sell up to 50kwh to each solar buddy.

The usual rate for power through Trustpower is somewhere between 30-37cents /kwh. I am selling for 15cents/kwh so based on 30cents /kwh you would save $7.50 per month off your power bill.

There are no set-up costs for this. Trustpower will contact you and once you are set up you will start saving and it will appear on you next bill.

Don't forget

This Sunday at the Packhouse Cinema . . . .

Three Summers

Ben Elton has done a terrific job of capturing everyday Australians; the good and the bad and the ugly.
This Australian movie had so many laughs along with serious moments. I find that some movies depend on big names to carry it but this is just not the case with Three Summers. I wonder how many takes they had for some of the scenes with Magda Szubanski. Her dialogue was hilarious and she did it with a straight face,
but I don't know how.
Peter Rowsthorn did the same scene 3 times in the movie and it just got funnier and funnier. Michael Caton did such a credible job of the older bigoted Australian, that all I could see was my father-in-law until the turnaround at the end. I could go on and on but I don't want to spoil it. Go see it for yourself. There's something for everyone; young and old. I haven't even mentioned the music. Go hear it for yourself. I'm getting the DVD when it comes out. It's going to be a classic like “The Castle!”

Let's meet for a drink and something to eat at the Sprig and Fern opposite the hall.

Hi Neighbours

Our littlest people need your help. Poverty doesn’t start at 5, but until now there’s been no nationwide programme to help preschoolers who are hungry and cold.

KidsCan is changing that. They’re delivering raincoats, shoes and five fresh meals a week to 25 early childhood centres. Attendance is up, and the children are happier and more settled.

"Everyone has the same meal so children don't feel like they have less," Manaia View Kindergarten teacher Kathy Belz says. "It's upholding everyone's mana.”

40 more centres are waiting for help. KidsCan, Stuff and Neighbourly have partnered up to raise enough money to support 1000 more children - and we need 400 more generous Kiwis to hold little hands. To support a child, sign up at KidsCan.org.nz
