In January 1952, the retirement of the TSS Arahura, built in 1905, seemed like as good a reason as any to run a training exercise for No. 75 Squadron’s de Havilland Mosquitoes and their crews. Armed with rockets and cannons, they were tasked with finding the “enemy” merchant ship in Cook Strait and destroying it.
