CATS

Shirley from Blenheim

here seems be an aweful lot of young cats that seem to have been dumped in the Taylor Pass Rd cemetery and the hospital grounds, have one about 12 weeks old living under our wood pallet quite terrified, way too young to fend for itself, there's another almost full grown one that had been around for ages that was so skinny, have been giving it a feed each night and have wormed it ,tablets in the food as we can't get near it, another 2 have appeared as well on the weekend only young ones, plus a neighbour had a different kitten show up this morning . If people cannot afford to have their cats fixed, vaccinated or feed them then they shouldn't get them. I often see on free economy people saying they have just got a kitten and advertise for food, bedding, carry cages, toys etc, so you know those kittens are not going to be vaccinated , chipped or fixed. Time there was some control re back yard breeders. Too many of these kittens are dumped because the kids get bored with them.

Some Choice News!

Kia pai from Sharing the Good Stuff

Many New Zealand gardens aren’t seeing as many monarch butterflies fluttering around their swan plants and flower beds these days — the hungry Asian paper wasp has been taking its toll.

Thanks to people like Alan Baldick, who’s made it his mission to protect the monarch, his neighbours still get to enjoy these beautiful butterflies in their own backyards.

Thinking about planting something to invite more butterflies, bees, and birds into your garden?

Thanks for your mahi, Alan! We hope this brings a smile!
