Ngakuta Bay Classic
Results thanks to David Bendell.
On January 2 the Ngakuta Bay Classic was held in Little Ngakuta Bay.
Nine teams of four entered and the first leg was a run, with baton, to the other jetty in the larger Ngakuta Bay (800 metres). The baton was passed to a second person to row across the bay to Little Ngakuta Bay and then the baton passed on for a swim out into the bay, around a buoy and back to Little Ngakuta Bay (maybe 700 metres).
The winning team did it in around 17 minutes and was won by Team Bendell - Hunter Bendell ran (4th), Vicki and David did the row (2nd) and Callanthia Hammond, a 13 year old swimmer who nailed it for the team. Callantia beat older teenagers and adults who also did the swim for the other teams. There were around 70 folk supporting the teams and it was a pleasant event as the trophy was handed over and prizes given out.
