Waimakariri councillor Kirstyn Barnett to stand for mayor
Councillor Kirstyn Barnett has announced her intention to stand for Mayor of the Waimakariri District Council.
The third-term councillor said she had been considering the move for some time, and made the call as she approaches her 50th birthday in May.
Barnett joins fellow councillors Dan Gordon, Robbie Brine and Paul Williams in the mayoral race. Veteran politician Jo Kane has also announced she will stand.
