That’s an interesting development because I would have thought they’d hold off on making such an announcement until the Developer had got their Tram Rd access sorted – and their plan hasn’t passed the safety audit yet. And it won’t pass the safety audit until the new speed limit takes effect.
NPD will want their bowsers to be accessible from Tram Rd – they want all that commuter fuel business.
But, we haven’t even voted on the new 80kph speed limit survey yet! What’s going on here??
We don’t even know what’s involved in getting an 80kph speed limit – the traffic experts have already confirmed a couple of new 80kph signs ain’t going to cut it. So it’s a roundabout or an intersection redesign! How much does a roundabout cost? Are we voting on a million dollar plus capital expenditure project?
The commissioner did stipulate in his “conditions” upon granting the RC that the Developer was liable for any roading work that was to be carried out.
We need to see a public statement from the council explaining what’s happening – what does the new 80kph speed limit solution look like, how much does it cost and exactly who is paying for it - preferably BEFORE we vote on it.
