The challenges of social distancing on skifields under Covid

Skiers and snowboarders learned they could not drink a beer while eating their homemade sandwich as thousands took to the slopes under Covid alert level 2 rules.

Most commercial ski fields opened with new social distancing rules on Thursday, although some began operations on Wednesday afternoon.

The new rules meant fewer people on chairlifts, spaced out queues, restricted numbers in restaurants, and controlled lines for coffee.
