Company not 'fully comfortable' using Unimogs on notorious Skippers Rd

Nicole Mathewson Reporter from Queenstown News

Plans to use 10-tonne Unimogs to transport whitewater rafters on a notorious Queenstown road are on hold because the company is not "fully comfortable" with the trip.

Adventure tourism company Go Orange wants to drive the 20-seater trucks into Skipper's Canyon on the 22-kilometre Skippers Rd, which was hand carved by early goldminers.

The company was not yet using Mercedes Benz Unimogs commercially in Skippers, manager Luke Taylor said.

"We're still in the process of training and evaluation and development of the product."

Air New Zealand trials check-in and bag drop-off in downtown Queenstown

Nicole Mathewson Reporter from Queenstown News

A bag drop-off and early check-in initiative being trialled by Air New Zealand in Queenstown could be rolled out to other locations if it proves successful, the airline says.

The national carrier says it will introduce a pop-up check-in and bag drop service in downtown Queenstown from November 20.

Passengers on the airline's domestic and international services will be able to use the service on the day of travel as part of a three month trial.
