Creative Queenstown people in search of new housing models have banded together to beat the resort's "property conundrum".

Queenstown Urban Village co-founder and community co-ordinator Barry Grehan said the group's members had struggled to afford deposits for homes in Queenstown, where the average house price is more than $1 million.
