What do you think about this Porirua Adventure Park?
Detailed plans for a proposed $32 million adventure park in the hills west of Porirua are being put to the public as the company seeks permission to start building. The year-long construction on the park is aimed to start early next year so opening day could potentially be in early-2020.
Public submissions to Porirua City Council are open till October 31, and submissions to the Department of Conservation till October 19. The proposed Porirua Adventure Park will add to the number of existing mountain bike trails and feature a $12 million gondola, zip line, hiking trails, a surf pool, and a cafe at each of the base and top gondola stations. It is estimated to boost Porirua's GDP by $9.6m a year and create about 171 jobs in the Wellington area.

Many New Zealand gardens aren’t seeing as many monarch butterflies fluttering around their swan plants and flower beds these days — the hungry Asian paper wasp has been taking its toll.
Thanks to people like Alan Baldick, who’s made it his mission to protect the monarch, his neighbours still get to enjoy these beautiful butterflies in their own backyards.
Thinking about planting something to invite more butterflies, bees, and birds into your garden?
Thanks for your mahi, Alan! We hope this brings a smile!
