Hi Timaru, as reported over the weekend, the team watching over Timaru's Little Blue Penguins has reported a positive start to the Caroline Bay nesting season as a ban of dogs in the area kicks in.

Have you been affected by the ban? What do you think about it?

Under a Timaru District Council bylaw, dogs are not allowed in the beach areas of the bay from October 1 to March 31 which coincides with the nesting season for the penguins. This is the second summer that dogs have been banned in the beach areas of Caroline Bay. Read more about the ban here.

Green party co-leader James Shaw said he saw "switched on" young people demanding to be heard by politicians. They were desperately unhappy about the decisions political leaders were making about their futures.
