Dog park progresses in leaps and bounds
Construction of Marlborough’s first dog park is set to begin. The park, at Fox’s Island in Renwick, will feature agility equipment including weave poles, hurdles, a jump through and a balance beam.
The park will also include a water feature with dog bowls and waste bins. It will be a place for owners to meet and socialise their dogs and can be used as part of a valuable education programme for dog rangers and other local groups.
Marlborough has 10,000 registered dogs.
The park’s construction is 80% funded from dog fees, with the remainder coming from rates.

Some Choice News!
Many New Zealand gardens aren’t seeing as many monarch butterflies fluttering around their swan plants and flower beds these days — the hungry Asian paper wasp has been taking its toll.
Thanks to people like Alan Baldick, who’s made it his mission to protect the monarch, his neighbours still get to enjoy these beautiful butterflies in their own backyards.
Thinking about planting something to invite more butterflies, bees, and birds into your garden?
Thanks for your mahi, Alan! We hope this brings a smile!
