Meet the 83-year-old who's been holidaying at Hot Water Beach since 1937. Stewart Matthews was 3½ when he saw Hot Water Beach for the first time in 1937. Needless to say, it made quite an impression - not only does he remember the moment now, but Matthews has holidayed there almost every summer since, and expects his family to continue the tradition for generations to come.

Many New Zealand gardens aren’t seeing as many monarch butterflies fluttering around their swan plants and flower beds these days — the hungry Asian paper wasp has been taking its toll.
Thanks to people like Alan Baldick, who’s made it his mission to protect the monarch, his neighbours still get to enjoy these beautiful butterflies in their own backyards.
