Heirloom varieties are those which have stood the test of time and have superior taste (and often greater health benefits) than those commercially grown for the supermarkets. Some have been around for literally hundreds of years.

I also spotted a hedge sparrow peering out from the safe haven of a bush. The waxeyes were having a feast in the school compost bin.
Our resident gammy legged blackbird entertained me as he played with his food, a juicy fat worm, then he flew onto the fence to sing to me! He was with us this time last year and we were so thrilled that he came back again this year!"

The plan for a reimagined airport was launched at business networking event on Wednesday by Kāpiti Air Urban, a group formerly called Save Kāpiti Airport. The airport is owned by property developer Templeton Group, which purchased the land in 2019.
Along with the new homes and an avionics tech hub, the group's ideas include an emergency management hub, commercial precinct, regional terminal, open spaces and eco-accommodation.
