Excessive Rates Increases Website

Geoff from Paraparaumu

Hi everyone (sorry about the length of this post..but I feel it is important to set the record straight.

Initially I started this via various social media groups and was taken aback at the huge volume of fellow dissatisfied ratepayers feedback about the ineffectiveness of the consultation process and proposed exorbitant rates increase figures being bandied about for forthcoming rates.
I've had to leave these groups due to the vitriol directed at me and others and the misdirected comments about the purpose of my posts.
This is a campaign to bring to the fore overwhelming dissatisfaction with the banal processes and lack of engagement back after submissions are made and the disturbing trend for councils (not just Kāpiti I must add) to default to rates increases far in excess of ratepayers annual income increases.
Please consider signing the petition available within my rudimentary website and also, as I've abandoned local Facebook Groups feel free to add this web address to any comments you may make in the places you have joined to spread the word.
Incidentally I shall be using what commentary is received via the petition and my email address at way_back_there@hotmail.com as our collective submission to council as well in addition to what I have already submitted. Any public publication I make will be anonimised to provide privacy..but you have the choice either way on that. But please also do your own submissions to drive home the point that enough is enough. You don't necessarily have to use those non choice partisan radio buttons in that form they have widely distributed..I suggest a free form email of your own crafted wording via their website details or to their 'do drop in' venues and dates provided for submissions . I hate to think that because the submissions process is wonky (in my view) that it's not also used by dissatisfied ratepayers to drive these points home.

So if your eyes have begun to glaze over here's that website address which includes a link to the petition again

PS you have until 28 April to do the submissions to KCDC..but this campaign doesn't have any deadlines.

Missing Playgroup Slide

Kate Neighbourly Lead from Raumati Beach

Missing! Our playgroup slide! The slide belongs to the Kapiti Uniting Parish, Raumati Church at 10 Weka Road, Raumati Beach. The last time it went missing it was found at Weka Park. Have you seen it? Or if you have taken it by accident, can you please return it. The preschoolers missed it this morning. Thank you!
