The next generation.
We hear so often on the news about Ram raids, Illegal street
car rallies, petty crime, bullying, and common assaults, many involving
younger people and we wonder what is happening to this generation.
Well things aren’t all bad as there are some great kids out there and
they should be recognized too…. but unfortunately, they often aren’t.
I attended the opening night of the Paraparaumu College stage show
“Grease” which was held at Southwards and I have to say it was a
fantastic performance enjoyed by a sold-out theatre. To see all these young students acting, singing, dancing, and enjoying themselves on the stage filled my heart with joy. Huge accolades to the talented production
crew and the orchestra from the college, all who have contributed to
making this a huge success. These young students have given up their time for months to bring this show to our community and I have so much admiration for them all and believe their parents would be so proud.
Seeing all the happy smiling faces up there performing has given me
confidence that there are far more good teenagers than bad, so thank you girls and boys, and a big pat on the back to the Paraparaumu College staff, you are doing a great job with these young adults.

Poll: Are Kiwis allergic to “exuberance”? 🥝
In The Post’s opinion piece on the developments set to open across Aotearoa in 2026, John Coop suggests that, as a nation, we’re “allergic to exuberance.”
We want to know: Are we really allergic to showing our excitement?
Is it time to lean into a more optimistic view of the place we call home? As big projects take shape and new opportunities emerge, perhaps it’s worth asking whether a little more confidence (and enthusiasm!) could do us some good.
