Fire weather warning
Fire weather figures predicted for today (Tuesday 5 March) indicate that extreme conditions will exist in the wider Tauranga area.
Many areas of the BoP will be in danger but higher afternoon wind speeds make Tauranga particularly susceptible. Fire and Emergency NZ would like to remind everyone to take care with any activities which could create sparks. One of the highest risks is from long, dry grass and maize which can easily be ignited by accidental sparks from machinery used to mow or harvest it.
Remember, if you see anything suspicious call 111 for Fire and Emergency. Please pass this message on!
