All loose fruit and veg were put in netting bags (my wife made 7 for $5) and a couple where plastic bags could not be avoided were emptied out at checkout into the same netting bags and the plastic containers given to the checkout operator with a message for the manager. I know some people think this sort of action is a waste of time but every little bit helps get the message across.
Was good to see local celebrity Ian McAlpine with his huge collection of rubbish gathered from New Plymouth beaches recently. I believe he also does great job on the mountain. There is always room for new volunteers so all you … View moreWas good to see local celebrity Ian McAlpine with his huge collection of rubbish gathered from New Plymouth beaches recently. I believe he also does great job on the mountain. There are quite a few of us however that perform a similar service. There is always room for new volunteers so all you have to do is grab a bag the next time you go for a walk and add to your own rubbish or recycling when you get back home.
