Workplace Bullying - Show Your Support for Change
An alarming study shows that New Zealand has the world's second highest rate of workplace bullying. This is both shocking and shameful!
In 2011, after the sudden demise of a workplace colleague, Robyn Hutchison took action against her employer after she was dismissed for whistleblowing.
Robyn conducted her own case but, prior to that, she engaged a local employment lawyer who turned out to be just another barrier to justice in a system that is already fraught with anomalies.
Robyn eventually attained a successful result, having fought the case in both the Employment Relations Authority and the Employment Court. Regrettably, due to low personal grievance settlement figures offered by our legal system, she was then left with an astronomical legal bill from the lawyer she had initially engaged (and dismissed), which had come as a complete surprise to her almost a year after the court case.
Clearly, there are no winners in these situations. However, Robyn is now retired and, with the knowledge gained from her case, is keen to do whatever she can to bring about lasting change in a system that, at least for the time being, appears to support rogue employers. She cannot do this while carrying the heavy load of a $6,000 legal bill (which has been unsuccessfully disputed through legal channels - again, due to system anomalies).
If you are able to offer just $10 towards removing this burden for Robyn, you would be playing a significant part as a catalyst for positive change.
Please offer your support so that Robyn can be fully released into her passion for change in this area.
