Enjoy an afternoon filled with music from local talents, headlined by La Corale. La Corale is a community choir based in Whakatu/Nelson that welcomes singers of all ages and skill levels, delivering an eclectic repertoire with a focus on world music.

All proceeds will go directly to the Women's Centre, helping them continue their essential services for our community. As you know, The Nelson Women's Centre, Te Whare Āwhina Mō Ngā Wāhine Puawai, is a vital support hub for women and non-binary people in the Nelson Whakatu community. The centre offers affordable counselling, workshops, and a safe space for connection and growth. However, our funding crisis has recently forced us to pause some essential services.
To help us continue providing these crucial resources, local volunteers are organising fundraising events like this one. These initiatives aim to ensure that the centre can keep its doors open and its services accessible to those who need them most. The Environmental Protection Authority announced this week that a proposed mine in Central Otago (near Cromwell) is about to enter its fast-track assessment process. A final decision could come within six months, and if it’s approved, construction might start as early as mid-2026.
